De OLM 170 is een compacte omgekeerde metallurgische microscoop. De grote werkafstand maakt hem ideaal voor het testen van de oppervlaktekwaliteit van grondstoffen en eindproducten in de industrie. De compacte bouw vergemakkelijkt bovendien het hanteren en maakt hem geschikt voor mobiele toepassingen.
De verlichting wordt geleverd door een 5 W LED, die sterk, duurzaam en traploos instelbaar is. Een trinoculaire oculairtubus is standaard gemonteerd. Een eenvoudige polarisatie-eenheid (analysator en polarisator) wordt meegeleverd, samen met een grote mechanische kruistafel. Het scherpstellen verloopt soepel en nauwkeurig met grove en fijne knoppen aan beide zijden.
Dit model bevat een vooraf geïnstalleerde C-mount adapter aan de achterkant van de microscoop, waardoor het eenvoudig is om een microscoopcamera aan te sluiten zonder externe adapter. Extra objectieven en accessoires kunnen ook worden toegevoegd.
